Cliff Top Path

A cliff top path on which to walk
to see the view perhaps to talk
of how the beauty of the day
washes over you in such a way
that all your senses come alive
suddenly no need to strive
and as you look far out to sea
wondering what it's like to be
soaring there amongst the gulls
or diving deep between the lulls
of waves that form some quite high
as if to blot out earth and sky
and drag you down down down down deep
to where the fishes play and sleep
inviting you into their home
below those waves some tipped with foam
there to stay and rest awhile
and with their antics make you smile
darting wildly to and fro
while others drift on by so slow
just like the wispy clouds above
no need to jostle push or shove
but floating there way up on high
until the time arrives to cry
and shower water on the land
some to run and some to stand
in puddles form a child's delight
to splash in carefree without fright

Who Specified This Beautiful Day?

Who specified this beautiful day
with sky so blue and clouds that play,
high above the snow capped hills,
awaiting the burst of Daffodils,
Snowdrops, Hyacinth, Crocus too,
fillimg the air with scent anew?

Who specified the snow and frost?
Who causes the wind to blow? At what cost?
Who makes the lambs to skip and bleat
and take faltering steps on faltering feet?
Who specifies joy in the heart of man,
when he beholds as no other can?

Why!!! It's the Holy one who has specified all,
from Kingly great to lowly small.
It is He, who takes from his great store,
and bestows to men upon Earths floor,
a bounteous green carpet rich and deep,
with meadow flowers a watch to keep,

The woodland trail, the babbling brook,
the lofty mountain with cranny and nook.
The ocean grand, the river wide,
with trees and bushes by the side,
more than all this He specifies Love, .
not just on a throne from heaven above.

No He came down to show the way,
so that man can follow and joyfully say,
all glory to God, who specified days,
on Earth, in Heaven, and Holy ways.
So praise Him now with trembling heart,
the King who specified all from the start.

Anyway nobody’s missed me

I don’t come to church anymore
cos nobody smiled,
I sat in a pew
looked over at you
you got me riled,
cos you never let on.

I don’t come to church anymore
cos he didn’t speak,
and she didn’t seek,
to acknowledge me.
I sat by myself
no one bothered to talk,
so I decided to walk,
I don’t come to church anymore.

NO I don’t think I’m wrong!
I just don’t belong,
I don’t fit in.
WHAT me get involved?
What would that solve?
I’ve been let down before,
and I’ll tell you what’s more
that’s why
I don’t come to church anymore.
Anyway nobody’s missed me.

Elderly Ewes First Christmas

What’s that?
A lamb’s been born?
Well, I didn’t know it was Christmas morn.
What’s that?
Spotless and clean?
Born the whole of mankind to redeem?

The Angels sang to you?
There on the hill?
Well, to your shepherds,
how could you keep still?

Can we go and see?
Will they let us in?
I’ll give some wool,
You give that grin.

The Beauty Of Bradford

There’s beauty in this City where I live.
Not just in buildings made with large and heavy Yorkshire stone
Or in the many flower beds that abound,
with different types of flowers scattered round
Or softly swaying trees alone.
Their shelter to the many birds that give.
Yes

There's beauty in this City where I live.

Such beauty there to see has always been.

Aware of it I remember even as a lad,

Though opportunity to tell I seldom had.

A beauty so unique but easy to be seen,

So in writing account of it I try to give.

Yes

There's beauty in this City where I live.

A multi cultural beauty so fresh and clean.

With childlike innocence and wisdom that age greets.

the laughter ringing through the City streets.

And of course there has always been,

The young and old their part to give.

Yes

There's beauty in this City where I live.

A beauty that shines in each and every face,

At sometime there uncovered for all to see,

There if only it's allowed to be,

The beauty of the human race.

And to Bradford it's character does give.

Yes

There's beauty in this City where I live.

A beauty there that Love alone bestows.

Even as you take the time to read what here is written.

And slowly with the realisation smitten.

And as on you this realisation grows

A share of it to others you must give.

Not So Hidden Agenda

Some folk have hidden agendas,
they set up their words in a line.
They’ll argue black’s white,
for most of the night,
whilst leading you on all the time.
They’ll agree with most you are saying,
conceding points, one or two
but deep down inside
they’re along for the ride,
putting one over on you.
Love has no hidden agenda,
Love keeps no record of wrongs,
Patient and kind,
no envy you’ll find,
to Love these do not belong.

The Wonders That You Do

about the wonders that You do
the perfection You have wrought
the beauty of Your Plan
the way that You have bought
mankind back from death
with Your Holy breath
You speak and it happens

about the Holy Way

brand new every day
surely I will say
You never fail me

about the things You've made

in the Universe displayed
such a grand array
vast and far away
I look up and I see
Your Love for me

I marvel at the sight

of the stars at night
and the beauty on the Earth
a little babys birth
a honey bee in flight
the miracle of sight
surely I will always praise
and thank You

Word words

It is finished.

a cry so often uttered by writers everywhere

but on that day, in a special way,
it was uttered with great care.

Such Love by any other
could not ever be,
for on that day, in a special way,
my Savior died for me.

My place He took as Heaven shook,
the great author spoke those words.

The Word Himself, with voice so sweet,
when He spoke He hushed the birds.

It is finished. So remember,
when the work's complete,
that on that day, in a special way,
Sin suffered great defeat.

Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

GRACE

The taste of Grace lingering long
permeates my every song,
Making right where I've gone wrong,
God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.

Romans 5:17
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

Don’t Be Discouraged

Citizen of Heaven, lend me your ear,
why do you stand trembling in fear?
Take up the baton, lift up your face,
don’t be discouraged, continue the race.

Though all is against you,
the road seeming rough,
you’re battered and bruised,
and you’ve had enough,
look only to Jesus,
on Him fix your eyes,
keep on with the running,
and you’ll win the Prize.

Phillipians 3:14
I press on toward the goal to win the prize
for which God has called me heavenward
in Christ Jesus.

Rainbow Light

Have you ever wondered
how it might have been

If the grass was red,
and the sky was green?
If the sea was yellow,
and the sun was blue?
And everything you looked at,
took on a different hue?

Well I'm glad God made the rainbow,
He gave Noah it for a sign,
With all those precious colours
that perfectly align.
I'm glad He gave us light,
Red, Orange and Yellow and Green.
Blue, Indigo and Violet,
in the rainbow they are seen
.

Have you ever wondered,
what it would be like,
If there was only darkness,
no day, just endless night?
Hate instead of Love?
'cos Love is just like light,
And Love is in the rainbow,
shining with all it's might.

Somebody once asked me,
how would I react,
If Jesus was born today,
and He lived right here in fact?
Well Love sent Jesus down here
at exactly the right time.
You know He's coming back soon?
That's fact and not a mime.

Genesis 9:16
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."

Jam on it!

I take the beauty God bestows
and put it in a jam jar
and even though this beauty glows
I often view it from afar

busy busy is my day
sometimes I forget to pray
not MY fault I often say
Now where did I put that jam jar?

1 Chronicles 16:29
ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

Atonement

At one meant
totally one

All for Love
through the Son

Adam’s will
a bitter pill

God's will
hanging ‘til

At-one-ment
totally one

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
